Skoda Auto, commonly referred to as Skoda, is a Czech automobile manufacturer founded in 1895. It became a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group in 1991. In China, Skoda has established a significant presence since entering the market, and it’s an essential part of the brand’s global strategy. Skoda entered the Chinese market in 2007 and quickly became an essential pillar for the brand’s global sales. China has consistently been Skoda’s largest individual market worldwide since then.

Skoda operates in China through a joint venture with SAIC Motor Corporation Limited, one of China’s largest automotive companies. This joint venture, SAIC Volkswagen, produces both Volkswagen and Skoda models. To cater to the preferences of Chinese consumers, Skoda has introduced models specifically tailored to the local market. Some of these models are exclusively available in China. The brand has had success with models like the Superb, Kodiaq, and Kamiq, among others.

Recognizing the importance of the Chinese market, Skoda has made efforts to localize its products and strategies to better resonate with local consumers. This includes longer versions of certain models and features tailored to Chinese tastes. While Skoda has seen success in China, it also faces challenges.
