Rolls Royce Ghost

The Rolls-Royce Ghost is a luxury saloon produced by the renowned British automaker Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. Introduced in 2009, the Ghost was envisioned as a “more measured, more realistic car” than the brand’s flagship, the Phantom. Yet, despite being a more “attainable” model in the Rolls-Royce lineup, the Ghost is every bit the epitome of luxury and refinement that the brand is celebrated for. There are two derivatives of the Ghost, besides the regular and the Extended Wheel Base sedan models: the Rolls Royce Wraith, a coupe introduced in 2013, and the Rolls Royce Dawn, a convertible introduced in 2016.

Rolls Royce Ghost Overview

It is the successor to the Rolls-Royce Phantom VII and it is named after the “Ghost” of the Silver Ghost, a car that was produced by Rolls-Royce from 1906 to 1925.

The Ghost’s design, while unmistakably Rolls-Royce with its Pantheon grille and Spirit of Ecstasy mascot, is a bit more understated compared to the Phantom. It boasts clean lines, an elegant silhouette, and a contemporary aesthetic. The interior is a showcase of luxury, with extensive use of high-quality leather, wood veneers, and metal accents. The cabin environment is crafted for ultimate comfort and serenity.

The Ghost is powered by a 6.6-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine, which, in the latest models, produces around 563 horsepower. This ensures the car delivers impressive performance, gliding effortlessly and providing the brand’s characteristic “magic carpet ride.” Despite its substantial size and weight, the Ghost’s air suspension and advanced chassis technology ensure a smooth and controlled ride.

The Ghost is intended to appeal to a segment of buyers who desire the luxury of a Rolls-Royce but in a more discreet package. It’s also aimed at those who might prefer to drive themselves rather than be chauffeured. In the luxury saloon market, the Ghost competes with vehicles like the Bentley Flying Spur and high-end offerings from brands like Mercedes-Benz (S-Class) and BMW (7 Series), although its price point is considerably higher.

In 2020, Rolls-Royce introduced the second generation of the Ghost. This new model continues the ethos of the original while integrating even more advanced technology, an all-wheel-drive system, and an all-wheel steering system for better agility.
