Renault Kadjar Sales Figures

Renault Kadjar

The Kadjar is the first locally produced model for Renault in China and Europe. Before, the French brand only imported its models in low volumes, most notably the Koleos crossover and Fluence and Latitude sedans from South-Korea and the Captur small crossover from France. The Kadjar is the first vehicle built in Renault’s new factory in Wuhan with Joint Venture partner Dongfeng. The factory has an annual capacity for 150.000 units in its first year, with the option to double capacity when sales of the Kadjar and the second generation Renault Koleos, of which local production started in November 2016, exceed expectations. In Europe, the Kadjar was replaced in 2022 after just a single generation by the Renault Austral in China.

Renault Kadjar Overview

The Renault Kadjar is a compact crossover SUV produced by the French automaker Renault. It sits in the C-segment of the SUV market, offering a balance between compact urban SUVs and larger, more rugged models. The Renault Kadjar was launched in 2015 as part of Renault’s efforts to expand its presence in the rapidly growing SUV market. It slots in between the smaller Renault Captur and the larger Renault Koleos in Renault’s SUV lineup.

The Kadjar shares its platform with the Nissan Qashqai, a result of the Renault-Nissan Alliance. This collaboration allowed for shared development costs and the utilization of established technologies. The Kadjar adopts Renault’s design language of that period, with a prominent front grille, sleek headlamps, and fluid lines. It’s designed to offer a blend of robustness characteristic of SUVs with a touch of elegance.

The interior of the Kadjar is designed with comfort and practicality in mind. It offers a spacious cabin, a user-friendly infotainment system, and a good amount of boot space. Depending on the market and trim level, the Kadjar comes equipped with features like touchscreen infotainment, navigation, advanced driver assistance systems, and more. The Kadjar is offered with a variety of engine options, including petrol and diesel variants. The focus is generally on providing a balance between performance and efficiency. Given its shared platform with the Qashqai, it inherits a well-tuned suspension system, making it competent on both city roads and highways.
