When the Peugeot 207 was introduced in 2006, its predecessor Peugeot 206 was sold alongside its as the Peugeot 206+ and both remained on the market even when its successor the Peugeot 208 was introduced in late 2012. The 206+ was sold until 2013 and the 207 hatchback until mid-2014, after which only the 207CC hard-top convertible remained available (see sales below).

Peugeot 207 Overview

The Peugeot 207 is a supermini car that was produced by the French automaker Peugeot. It followed the massively successful Peugeot 206 and aimed to build upon that success with modern features, improved safety, and a fresh design. It was built to cater to a market that was evolving in terms of safety standards, technology expectations, and design trends.

The 207 adopted a bolder and more robust appearance compared to the sleeker 206. It featured a larger front grille, bigger headlights, and a more muscular body structure. The car’s interior also saw updates, with a focus on improved materials and a more ergonomic design. The Peugeot 207 offered a range of gasoline and diesel engines, including the economical HDi diesel engines and the sportier GTi version, which appealed to enthusiasts.

The 207 was generally well-received, especially in European markets. Consumers appreciated its mix of style, safety, and technology. However, it also faced criticism in certain areas, especially when directly compared to the iconic status of the 206. The 207 had big shoes to fill given the massive success of the 206. Some felt it didn’t have the same charm as its predecessor, especially in terms of design. Additionally, during its production life, the 207 faced stiff competition from other superminis like the Ford Fiesta, Renault Clio, and Volkswagen Polo.

Production of the Peugeot 207 ended in 2014, with the model being succeeded by the Peugeot 208, which carried forward the lineage with a fresh design and newer technologies. The 208, especially in its electric version, has since managed to make a significant mark in its segment.
