Nissan Patrol

The Nissan Patrol is a series of large four-wheel drive vehicles produced by the Japanese automaker Nissan since 1951. Known for its ruggedness, durability, and off-road capabilities, the Patrol has been a significant player in the 4×4 segment and has garnered a dedicated following in various parts of the world, including the Middle East, Australia, and Africa.

Nissan Patrol Overview

The Patrol was introduced in 1951 and is considered one of the longest-running SUV nameplates. It was developed in response to the demand for military off-road vehicles and gradually evolved into a popular civilian 4×4. The Nissan Patrol has undergone seven generations since then, with the latest seventh generation being launched in 2021.

Depending on the market, the Patrol is available in various body styles, including a shorter three-door version (often referred to as the “Patrol Safari”) and the more common five-door version. Modern iterations of the Patrol come equipped with advanced technologies, such as Hydraulic Body Motion Control (HBMC) for improved ride quality, Nissan’s Intelligent Mobility suite of driver-assistance technologies, premium audio systems, and luxurious interiors.

In some markets, notably North America, the Patrol is known as the Nissan Armada (especially the recent models). The Armada, however, has been tailored more to the American market and has some differences compared to the global Patrol. The Patrol has gained legendary status in the Middle East and Australia for its robustness and desert-crossing capabilities.
