Mitsubishi Space Star MPV
These statistics include sales of the Mitsubishi Space Star small MPV, sold from 1998 through 2006. They exclude sales of the Mitsubishi Space Star / Mirage minicar sold from late 2012 onwards. The Mitsubishi Space Star, in its initial form as an MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle), was produced from 1998 to 2005. Aimed primarily at the European market, this compact MPV was positioned between smaller mini-MPVs and larger, full-size MPVs in Mitsubishi’s lineup.
As a compact MPV, the Space Star was designed with practicality in mind. It featured a tall, boxy profile, optimizing interior space and offering good outward visibility. The Space Star was a five-seater with a versatile interior. The rear seats could be folded or rearranged to increase cargo space, making it adaptable for different needs. Throughout its production run, the Space Star was offered with a range of both gasoline and diesel engines. This included options like a 1.3L and 1.6L gasoline engines, and later, a 1.9L direct-injection diesel engine was introduced.
The original Space Star MPV was phased out in 2005. Its space in the lineup was essentially taken by the larger Mitsubishi Grandis, which offered seating for seven passengers.
