Best of the 2024 Porsche Lineup

The Peak of Performance Driving

The Porsche brand is synonymous with performance and premium build quality. They are characteristics that have helped the German carmaker rise to become one of the most dominant players in the performance automobile segment.

Porsche is also a brand that understands how to milk every last ounce of market value from its models. Take the 911, for instance. The iconic sports car is currently available in over 20 different variants, all aimed at different customer tastes and lifestyle preferences.

It’s a strategy that’s helped the carmaker capture as much of the market as possible. For 2024, several models in the lineup have been refreshed, while a new one, the Macan EV, is poised to stake its claim for market share in the rapidly growing electric SUV market.

  • MSRP: starts at $82,400 USD / $110,952 CAD
  • Engine: 2.5L turbocharged flat-4
  • Power / Torque: 350 hp / 309 lb-ft
  • Transmission: RWD

  • Basic Warranty: 4 years / 50,000 miles (80,000 km)

Our Take

The multiple award-winning 718 is the gateway into the world of Porsche’s sports car excellence. It is available in several variants and configurations, but our pick of the bunch is the 718 Boxster S. The Boxster S skips the entry-level 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine for a 2.5-litre unit. The extra power from the bigger engine combines well with the car’s fierce cornering grip and crisp handling. Then there’s the open-top body style, allowing for a truly immersive driving experience.

  • Basic Warranty: 4 years / 50,000 miles (80,000 km)

Our Take

Do not dismiss this sports machine as yet another 911 special edition model. The 911 S/T is perhaps the purest expression of any modern 911. Designed with hardcore Porsche enthusiasts in mind, the 911 S/T is offered exclusively with a 6-speed manual gearbox. It is a road-focused 911, but an emphasis on weight savings, a superbly tuned chassis and handling all come together to create a driving experience that puts the 911 S/T in a class of its own.

Specifications

  • MSRP: starts at $241,300 USD / $324,913 CAD
  • Engine: 4.0L naturally aspirated flat-six
  • Power / Torque: 518 hp / 343 lb-ft

  • Basic Warranty: 4 years / 50,000 miles (80,000 km)

Our Take

One of the hardcore 911 models, the latest iteration of the GT3 RS takes performance and aerodynamics to a whole new extreme. The track-focused road car leverages F1 technology to deliver stimulating driving engagement by the bucket-loads. The sonorous symphony from the howling naturally aspirated flat-6 engine is the perfect backdrop for all the supercar’s insanity.

Specifications

  • MSRP: starts at $222,000 USD / $298,925 CAD
  • Engine: 3.0L turbocharged flat-6
  • Power / Torque: 473 hp / 420 lb-ft

  • Basic Warranty: 4 years / 50,000 miles (80,000 km)

Our Take

The 911 Dakar was another bold move from Porsche. It’s the carmaker’s interpretation of an off-road supercar and one that’s a direct rival to the Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato. Top Gear journalists described the car as ‘utterly joyous and addictive to drive.’ It is an apt summary for one of the most exciting Porsches of the modern era. It is, in effect, a dune buggy engineered to near perfection by Porsche’s brilliant engineers. The Porsche 911 Dakar unlocks a new playful side of the 911’s personality and is fully deserving of a spot on this list.

Specifications

  • MSRP: starts at $106,900 USD / $143,941 CAD
  • Engine: 2.9L turbocharged V6
  • Power / Torque: 348 hp / 368 lb-ft

  • Basic Warranty: 4 years / 50,000 miles (80,000 km)

Our Take

Porsche’s sole sedan offering has been refreshed for the 2024 MY with a sleeker profile and new technology. The Panamera 4, as the name implies, adds a very useful all-wheel-drive, improving its drivability in all weather conditions. Porsche sold 34,020 Panameras in 2023, and the carmaker will be hoping the new generation of the luxury performance sedan will sustain the sales momentum for 2024.

Porsche 911 Turbo S

Specifications

  • MSRP: starts at $230,400 USD / $310,235 CAD
  • Engine: 3.7L twin-turbocharged flat-6
  • Power / Torque: 640 hp / 590 lb-ft
  • Transmission: AWD
  • 0-60 mph: 2.2 seconds
  • Fuel Economy: 14 MPG (city) | 16.8 L/100 km / 20 MPG | 11.8 L/100 km (highway)
  • Basic Warranty: 4 years / 50,000 miles (80,000 km)

Our Take

The current-generation 911 Turbo S shines with instant power delivery and insane acceleration that puts it at par with much more expensive rivals like the McLaren 765LT or the Ferrari SF90 Stradale. Add an insane amount of grip, formidable braking power and razor-sharp steering to the package, and you’ve easily got one of the best modern supercars on the market today.

Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid

Specifications

  • MSRP: starts at $146,900 USD / $197,802 CAD
  • Engine: 4.0L twin-turbocharged V8 + Electric Motor
  • Power / Torque: 729 hp / 701 lb-ft (combined)
  • Transmission: AWD
  • 0-60 mph: 3.5 seconds
  • Fuel Economy: NA
  • Basic Warranty: 4 years / 50,000 miles (80,000 km)

Our Take

It’s one of the most powerful Cayenne models ever built. For the 2024 MY, the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid has gained even more power, boasting up to 729 hp. It’s enough to push the Cayenne firmly into Lamborghini Urus territory for far less money. The styling has been updated as well, with a new front end and, in the interior, an infotainment screen for the passenger.

Porsche Macan S

Specifications

  • MSRP: starts at $72,300 USD / $97,352 CAD
  • Engine: 2.9L twin-turbocharged V6
  • Power / Torque: 375 hp / 383 lb-ft
  • Transmission: AWD
  • 0-60 mph: 4.6 seconds
  • Fuel Economy: 17 MPG (city) | 13.8 L/100 km / 23 MPG | 10.2 L/100 km (highway)
  • Basic Warranty: 4 years / 50,000 miles (80,000 km)

Our Take

There’s a reason the Macan is the best-selling Porsche model. The Macan is so much fun to drive, with athletic handling that will rival sports cars much smaller in size. The Macan S, with its twin-turbo V6, is the sweet spot between the base inline-4 Macan and the top-trim Macan GTS. Apart from the way it drives, owners can expect premium Porsche build quality and a towing capacity of 2,400 lbs, impressive for a sporty SUV.

Porsche Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo

Specifications

  • MSRP: starts at $163,400 USD / $220,019 CAD
  • Engine: Permanent-magnet synchronous motors (front & rear)
  • Power / Torque: 670 hp / NA
  • Transmission: AWD
  • 0-60 mph: 2.6seconds
  • Fuel Economy: 80 MPGe (city) | 2.9 L/100 km / 78 MPGe | 3.0 L/100 km (highway)
  • Range: 233 miles (375 km)
  • Basic Warranty: 4 years / 50,000 miles (80,000 km)

Our Take

Porsche rolled the dice with the Taycan, going big with its first major foray into the EV world. It’s a move that’s paid off handsomely with the Taycan currently one of the best-selling Porsche models globally. Our favourite is the Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo, a model variant with a wagon body style for practicality and sports car performance, courtesy of a formidable electric powertrain. The Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo has been refreshed for the 2024 MY with cosmetic tweaks and a power bump compared to the previous model.

Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT

Specifications

  • MSRP: starts at $196,300 USD / $264,319 CAD
  • Engine: 4.0L twin-turbocharged V8
  • Power / Torque: 650 hp / 626 lb-ft
  • Transmission: AWD
  • 0-60 mph: 2.8 seconds
  • Fuel Economy: 14 MPG (city) | 16.8 L/100 km / 19 MPG | 12.4 L/100 km (highway)
  • Basic Warranty: 4 years / 50,000 miles (80,000 km)

Our Take

There is nothing subtle about the Cayenne Turbo GT, with its aggressive coupe-SUV styling and massive twin-turbocharged V8 under the hood. First introduced in 2021, the Cayenne Turbo GT was built for speed and it’s a task the SUV accomplishes with some style, able to hit 60 mph in less than 3 seconds. Like other Cayenne models, the Turbo GT has also been updated for the 2024 MY, with revised headlights, more aggressive fenders and a new digital gauge cluster set in the dashboard.
