2012 U.S. Automotive Sales by Automaker – The Best-Selling Automotive Manufacturers By Sales Volume
GM retained its top spot in the U.S. market. Chevrolet, in particular, was a driving force for GM’s sales, with the Silverado truck and other models performing well. Ford continued its strong presence, with the Ford F-Series truck consistently being the top-selling vehicle in the U.S. Models like the Fusion and Escape also contributed to Ford’s substantial sales. Bouncing back from its challenges in 2011 due to natural disasters, Toyota saw significant growth in 2012. The Camry, Corolla, and Prius were notable sellers for the brand. Continuing its post-recession resurgence, Chrysler Group, which included brands like Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, and Ram, saw a significant increase in sales. Jeep, in particular, had a strong year. VW continued its push to increase its market share in the U.S., with the Passat and Jetta being key drivers of its growth.
